are key energy junction points (nadis) within the subtle body, with seven major centers acting as vortices of spiritual and physical energy that facilitate kundalini awakening. When awakened and balanced through tantric practices, they facilitate higher consciousness and vitality. The seven main chakras are:

Muladhara (Root): Foundation, survival, perineum area.

Svadhishthana (Sacral): Pleasure, creativity, genital area.

Manipura (Solar Plexus): Power, vitality, navel area.

Anahata (Heart): Love, compassion, creative center.

Vishuddha (Throat): Power center, communication.

Ajna (Third Eye): Intuition, perception, between brows.

Sahasrara (Crown): Pure consciousness, ecstasy.

Tantric Chakra Characteristics

Function: They are not physical, but rather astral centers where 72,000 nadis (energy channels) converge.

Activation: Techniques include pranayama (breathwork), visualizations, bija mantras (sounds), and Bhuta shuddhi (purification of elements) to move energy up the spine.

Nature: When balanced, they provide mental and emotional health. When energy flows through the central channel (sushumna), these centers unfold.

Variations: While seven are commonly taught in Tantra yoga, Buddhist tantra often emphasizes four or five main chakras.

Common Practices

Tantric practitioners, or yogis, work to clear blockages in these centers to unlock deeper states of awareness and prevent the "non-functioning" state associated with daily, non-spiritual life.
